Speaking

Book Michael to speak to your group.

I'm a Black adoptee who was raised by a white family in Lincoln, Nebraska. I spent 30 years in education as a teacher, a principal and an executive leadership coach. I'm also the author of I Was Your Black Child.

In every talk I tell my story the way it happened. Then I turn it back to the children in your families and what the adults around them can do.

"Our family has attended this camp for several years and heard many speakers, but Michael's story affected me in a particularly meaningful way."
Niloo, adoptive mother
Who I Speak To

I speak to adoption agencies, parent groups, educators, faith communities, and organizations ready to have an honest conversation about transracial adoption.

I speak on:

What People Said

"Michael is engaging and gives specific things to do to push you to go further and commit even more."

Urrvano, keynote attendee

"Adoption is so hard and Michael graciously shares his story and it was so beneficial to hear!"

Katie Simmerman, keynote attendee

"I walked in thinking, oh no, I'm a white person and he's gonna talk bad about white people. So I sat and listened, and I found you pleasant and understanding, and it made me think, how would I feel if I was in that situation."
Kimberly Callahan, adoptive mother
